Watch Manager/Sub Officer 2019

You must get your Station Manager and their manager to complete sections 2 and 3 of the expression of interest form before submitting it with your online application form. All successful applicants will not be ring fenced as set out in the Role to Rank agreement for current WMA’s. At the end of this process successful applicants will be promoted to Watch Manager (A) until the Role to Rank structure agreement is implemented, at which time those successful applicants will assume the role of Sub Officer. Successful candidates will be offered any available Watch Manager A (Sub Officer) position.

Please note:
- There will be a practical drill exercise as part of this process (see attached drill booklet) and candidates are advise to start preparing for this now.

-There will be a knowledge test as part of this process (see attached knowledge test bibliography) and candidates are advise to start studying for this now.

-ALL Watch Manager A (Sub Officer) vacancies will be filled regardless where they sit organisationally, including but not exclusive to; Fire Safety, CU, CBRN etc.

You must be a competent Crew Manager (Ops). For this promotion process, there is no requirement for applicants to have had their Personal Development Folder (PDR) signed off as competent for over 12 months.

Existing Watch Manager (A) staff wishing to transfer to another station or alternative location should follow the transfer request process and not apply for this assessment process.

Assessment Overview

Please note that the assessment process is sequential – therefore each stage must be passed in order to progress.

Stage 1

Application Form – Please find the attachment along with instruction on how to complete your expression of interest form which must be submitted with the online form; Closing date 08 April 2019 at 23:59 GMT.

Knowledge Test – A pass mark of 70% or above is required to progress to the Practical Drill; Scheduled to take place in April 2019.

Practical Drill – Sift. Please find additional information in the drill booklet attached. Scheduled to take place in April 2019.

Stage 2

Scheduled to take place from early May 2019.

Presentation - Topic will be provided on the day;

Interview – This will be based around the non operational aspects of the role;

Operational Exercise – This will be an interactive Q & A exercise;

Written - This will be relevant to role.

A minimum score of 50% is required in each area for you to be considered for promotion.

As you can appreciate, the scheduling of the assessment process involves a great deal of resources and therefore management will be notified of any non-attendance to either stage one or two of the assessment and development centre. Please be advised that if you are unable to make your scheduled assessment dates, we may not be able to make alternative arrangements. Please state all unavailable dates in your application form (including training dates) as once a date has been selected, we will not be able to change it.
