The role
Come and join the London Fire Brigade’s communications team in a new and exciting role. Over the next year, the Brigade needs to reach over 400 teams at over 100 locations in London with news of an exciting and wide-reaching transformation programme. The transformation programme is ambitious, complex and will impact, in one way or another, every single member of the Brigade.
The transformation programme has been launched already and the successful candidate will be tasked with business partnering with the Brigade’s Transformation directorate to develop and write a narrative which they will then help deliver through face to face and virtual communications and engagement over the next year.
Reporting directly to the Head of Media, Digital and Internal Communications, but embedded within the Transformation Directorate on a day-to-day basis, the role holder will be responsible for owning the narrative and message for Brigade-wide transformation, and for delivering it to audiences (staff but also media, communities, political stakeholders) by partnering with other relevant members of the team.
The candidate
The successful candidate will have first rate writing skills, and an ability to distil complex ideas into ideas that engage diverse audiences. They will likely have experience working within a complex organisation with a hard-to-reach workforce, and they will have worked with ambiguous challenges in a role that has involved business partnering and collaboration.
As well as writing skills, they will be comfortable delivering messages to the end user, across diverse audiences, while collaborating with comms colleagues. They will be comfortable providing counsel on messaging at C-Suite/Director level.
They will be comfortable planning and leading a variety of different forms of engagement, including written, remote video and face to face.
Candidates with the ability to interview and start quickly would be welcomed.
