The Role

Staff Counsellor
Permanent
Grade: FRS E
Salary: £36,829 - £43,992

A number of opportunities have arisen within our Counselling and Wellbeing team for one full time permanent Staff Counsellor and one permanent Staff Counsellor for 4 days per week.

Are you a counsellor or psychologist qualified to Diploma level with current BACP accreditation or equivalent? Do you have proven post-qualifying experience of 5 years duration and possess the expertise, skills and enthusiasm to join a well established team? We provide a comprehensive counselling service covering all aspects of work-related, health and personal issues to the staff of a large emergency service.

You will have the skills to develop an effective counselling relationship with a wide range of staff from a variety of cultural backgrounds and possess an understanding of the role of a staff counsellor in an organisational setting.

Specialist skills in using CBT plus experience of working with trauma related issues would be an advantage.

Assessment Overview

Please address the following criteria:

1.1 A minimum Diploma in Counselling or equivalent and currently BACP Accredited (or equivalent).

1.2 A minimum 5 years experience as a trained counsellor / psychotherapist / psychologist working with a diverse client group and dealing with a wide range of presenting problems.

1.3 Experience of using CBT and / or other short-term focussed models of counselling.

3.3 Knowledge/understanding/experience working with trauma related issues including PTSD.

Additional Information

In line with the Basic Personnel Security Standard employment checks will be completed for the successful person, which will include a criminal records check. As this position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, the successful person will be asked to declare any convictions (spent and unspent), cautions, reprimands or warnings. A Criminal Records Bureau Enhanced Disclosure will be undertaken on the successful person before an appointment is confirmed.
