Following a successful transformation programme, a variety of exciting roles have arisen within the Procurement Department at London Fire Brigade.
The department is responsible for all procurement activity within the organisation, working with internal client departments to fulfil operational and other requirements focussing on achieving best value for the Brigade.
The London Fire Brigade, at the strategic level, is pursuing a category management style approach to procurement; while the job description for Senior Procurement & Contracts Manager role is a generalist one, it is envisaged that the successful applicants will lead on core areas of the business and be required to develop close, strategic working relationships within particular categories such as ICT and professional services.
In order to maintain flexibility within the teams, generalist experience is also required with an aptitude and willingness to build experience in particular categories once in post. The roles also involve collaboration with other public sector bodies such as the Metropolitan Police and Transport for London and other Fire Rescue Authorities.

In line with the Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) employment checks will be completed by successful candidates, which will include a basic criminal records check. Successful candidate will be required to declare any convictions for offences which are not spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and any offer of employment is subject to the LFC receiving a criminal records disclosure which it considers satisfactory. Successful candidates should apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to get a copy of their criminal record and share the original disclosure certificate with the LFC. The check will only show convictions that are not ‘spent’. It will cost the successful candidates £23 (current charge) and usually takes up to 14 days.
