Grade: Senior Control Commander – London Operations Centre
Salary range: Starting at £76,345.50 rising to £94,828.80 through annual increments. Inclusive of a 10% on call allowance.
Hours: Full Time + On Call requirement

The London Fire Brigade is seeking to recruit a Senior Control Commander (SCC) to form part of the Senior Leadership Team of Brigade Control, based at the London Operations Centre, Merton, South West London.

The London Fire Brigade Control Room is the busiest Fire Control in the UK, answering over 200,000 999 calls a year and supporting the LFB response to over 120,000 incidents.

This is an exciting time to join the team, we are seeking highly motivated, talented, and adaptable applicants who have the vision and leadership skills to help shape the future of the Control room.

The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of the issues facing the Fire and Rescue Service and emergency control rooms. They will be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.

You will have experience of delivering lasting change within the emergency services, in both operations and leadership, particularly in the areas of cultural transformation and technology.

Alongside leading our team of 110 Control Room staff, the successful candidate will be required to provide an out of hours, on-call commitment, responding to the Control room in the event of major and or serious incidents, assuming command when required.

To fulfil this commitment, you are required to have a full UK clean driving licence, if not already qualified, you will also be required to undertake emergency response driver training.

Eligibility

Applications are welcome from substantive Station Commander (Control), LFB Operations Managers and Brigade Control staff at FRS F+ grade.

Those not in the Fire Service must be able to evidence their experience in a senior leadership role.

Candidates must have a a full UK clean driving licence

Assessment Overview

Stage 1

Stage 2

Additional Information

In line with the Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) employment checks will be completed by successful candidates, which will include a Standard criminal records check. Successful candidate will be required to declare any convictions for offences and any offer of employment is subject to the LFC receiving a criminal records disclosure which it considers satisfactory.
