The Role

Post: Senior Communications Officer
Grade: FRS E
Status: Permanent (Job-share 3-day per week)
Starting salary: £37,566 pro rata
Salary range for the FRS E grade: £37,566 - £44,872 pro rata

This is a job share opportunity for an experienced communications officer in one of London’s busiest press offices. The successful candidate will have experience of dealing with media queries on a wide range of topics and be confident using social channels, especially twitter - a key tool when we are warning and informing Londoners during major incidents. As well taking responsibility for a number of proactive safety awareness campaigns the successful candidate will take part in an out of hours on call rota. We are looking for someone who wants to work in a fast paced environment, influence decision-makers and play a part in keeping London safe.

Assessment Overview

Please address the following selection criteria in your online application form:

Selection Criteria 1 - Experience of working in a senior role in communications within a large complex organisation, ideally a busy press office handling multiple media queries on a arrange of issues.

Selection Criteria 2 - Experience of using a range of social media applications together with an awareness of how they can be utilised in the context of the work.

Selection Criteria 3 - Excellent communication skills, oral and in writing, in order to write copy; use social media channels to liaise effectively with staff at all levels, representatives of external organisations and members of the public; and to undertake presentations in formal and informal settings.

Selection Criteria 4 - Experience of developing and implementing successful campaigns and strategies using the full range of communications techniques.
