London Fire Brigade is one of the largest fire rescue services in the world, serving a complex and dynamic city of 8.9 million residents as well as those who work in or visit the city.

We are looking for a Project Manager to join our Fire Safety Regulation Policy Team. The successful applicant will be responsible for planning and delivery of the LFB One Risk project, which Information and Communication Technology (ICT) are delivering. This project has implications for both Fire Safety and Fire Stations as it aims to integrate all premises risk information from fire safety, risk to firefighters and risks to persons into a single software solution, allowing operational and fire safety staff access to all key risk information.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Proven experience of planning and managing projects within the organisation;
• An understanding of the principles, methods, techniques and tools for the effective management of projects from initiation through to implementation;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with people at all levels when liaising with internal and external sector stakeholders;
• An understanding of equality issues, data protection and a commitment to ensuring equality policies are implemented in relation to the duties and responsibilities of the post;
• Identify project management control processes including when and how to use them;
• Explain and compile a sound and effective Business Case for a project.

In addition, applicants will need to have a track record in delivering key organisational projects at strategic level.

Applicants must have project management qualification (Certification in PRINCE2 Practitioner or APM equivalent)

Assessment Overview

Stage 1

CV and cover letter (sift). Shortlisted candidates will be invited to stage 2.

Stage 2

Assessment for this role is due to take place late-July/early-August 2021. Please be advised that if you are unable to make the scheduled assessment date, we may not be able to make alternative arrangements.

Please note: Should you be shortlisted you will need to be able to conduct an interview over Microsoft Teams (a video conferencing service). You will be asked to provide relevant contact details for that to take place if shortlisted.

Additional Information

In line with the Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) employment checks will be completed by successful candidates, which will include a basic criminal records check. Successful candidate will be required to declare any convictions for offences which are not spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and any offer of employment is subject to the LFC receiving a criminal records disclosure which it considers satisfactory. Successful candidates should apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to get a copy of their criminal record and share the original disclosure certificate with the LFC. The check will only show convictions that are not ‘spent’. It will cost the successful candidates £23 (current charge) and usually takes up to 14 days.
