An opportunity has arisen to join the London Fire Brigade as a Health and Safety Officer in the Health and Safety Team.
In delivering a world-class fire and rescue service, the health and safety of all our staff is a prime concern. You will proactively advise our managers on all aspects of health and safety. You will also use your skills, knowledge and experience to support the Brigade’s wide range of work activities, such as undertaking and reviewing risk assessments, workplace health and safety inspections and compliance audits and contribute to policies, procedures, guidance and standards that can ultimately help save lives.
With a high level of interpersonal skills, you’ll be a first rate communicator who has proven experience of working in a similar role. You will be qualified to minimum level 3 certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and you should demonstrate a good knowledge of health, safety and overlapping environment legislation and practice.

Assessment Overview

Assessment for this role is due to place mid/late-August 2021. Please be advised that if you are unable to make the scheduled assessment date, we may not be able to make alternative arrangements.
Please note: Should you be shortlisted and because of the current Covid-19 situation you will need to be able to conduct an interview over a video conferencing service such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams. You will be asked to provide relevant contact details for that to take place if shortlisted.
Additional Information
In line with the Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) employment checks will be completed by successful candidates, which will include a basic criminal records check. Successful candidate will be required to declare any convictions for offences which are not spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and any offer of employment is subject to the LFC receiving a criminal records disclosure which it considers satisfactory. Successful candidates should apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to get a copy of their criminal record and share the original disclosure certificate with the LFC. The check will only show convictions that are not ‘spent’. It will cost the successful candidates £23 (current charge) and usually takes up to 14 days.
