We are now looking for an experienced HR Manager to lead a team providing support and guidance to individuals, line managers and HR colleagues on a range of health and absence management activities. You will play a lead role in shaping our absence policies, working closely with our occupational health partners.
You will have a proven track record of successfully supporting absence management within a complex and diverse organisation. The role also requires experience of developing and absence management strategies to support employee wellbeing.
Reporting to the Head of Wellbeing, you will bring a solid HR casework background and along with excellent communication and influencing skills, and a good knowledge of appropriate employment legislation.

Assessment Overview
Please address the following selection criteria in your application form:
1 - How you will manage and develop the Brigade’s Health and Absence Management function to support the organisation to manage absence proactively and so contribute to the maintenance of effective service delivery?
2 - How you will lead and co-ordinate the Brigade’s response on complex/sensitive health and absence related cases, and assist managers and HR Advisers in the preparation of cases for formal meetings as well as attending Employment Tribunals as required?
3 - How you will review current training available to managers to support effective attendance management and in conjunction with the Brigade’s training provider, assist in the development of future attendance management training package(s)?
4 - How you will ensure the Brigade’s absence management policies and procedures are fit for purpose and oversee staff and managers in their application, including the provision of briefings as required?
