London Fire Brigade (LFB) is looking for an exceptional Head of Performance Management to join the Transformation Directorate. This post plays an important role in leading the development and maintenance of the Brigade’s performance management framework, incorporating the effective use of planning, performance indicators and access to timely management information which are essential to the delivery of the Brigade’s core functions, objectives and priorities, including the identification of mitigating actions to address areas of underperformance.

The post holder will be required to serve as the professional head for performance management for LFB, accountable for policy development, best practice, innovation, and a training specification to support organisational development.

As well as provide technical knowledge, expertise, assurance and advice to the Assistant Commissioner – Transformation, Director of Transformation and other stakeholders on the application of a Performance Management framework and compliance with legislation and best practice.

They will also be expected to provide assistance to enable senior managers within the directorates to develop the knowledge and understanding required to access and utilise performance data and other intelligence to support decision making and planning. Support business leads in developing new ways to interact with data and drive performance improvement (continuous improvement, visualisation etc).

To produce regular (and ad hoc) performance monitoring reports for the Commissioners Board, Fire and Resilience Board, and Directorate/department management boards, outlining achievement against corporate, local and other key performance indicators, activities/commitments and actions, collating inputs from key departmental managers across the Brigade.

Ideally, we are looking for someone with a proven track record in this field and are able to communicate both verbally and in writing to a high standard to provide high quality written reports, briefs and presentations relating to the duties of the post as required. You can manage your time effectively and represent the Directorate/Department/Team at both internal and external meetings as necessary and deputise for the Head of Business Management as required.

Assessment Overview
