An opportunity has arisen to join the People Services department as the Head of HR Services based at our Union Street HQ.
The role requires an exceptional individual to lead a team in developing and delivering the Brigade’s HR services for over 5,000 staff. Working collaboratively and effectively with a range of stakeholders at all levels across the Brigade the successful candidate will be expected to provide appropriate support, advice, and leadership across a range of HR processes and procedures which affect the Brigade’s workforce. In particular the job holder will be expected to lead and manage a programme of change aimed at ensuring that the Brigade’s HR Service Centre provides an efficient service of the highest quality to its internal customer base at all times.

Assessment Overview
As part of the online application form, candidates must provide evidence to address the following criteria:
Selection Criteria 1 - Experience of managing HR systems and processes including their redesign in large complex organisations.
Selection Criteria 2 - Experience in developing and delivering change programmes which ensure best practice HR processes are in place.
Selection Criteria 3 - Evidence of delivering organisational efficiencies through the application of HR processes and policies.
Selection Criteria 4 - The ability to lead and motivate a team of HR professionals in delivering exceptional customer service to a demanding internal client base.

In line with the Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) employment checks will be completed by successful candidates, which will include a basic criminal records check. Successful candidate will be required to declare any convictions for offences which are not spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and any offer of employment is subject to the LFC receiving a criminal records disclosure which it considers satisfactory. Successful candidates should apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to get a copy of their criminal record and share the original disclosure certificate with the LFC. The check will only show convictions that are not ‘spent’. It will cost the successful candidates £25 (current charge) and usually takes up to 14 days.
