The Role

Starting salary: £37,566 per annum
Salary range for the FRS E grade: £37,566 - £44,872 per annum

An opportunity has arisen in the Strategy and Risk Department for a FREP Management Officer. Working closely with the Head of Performance and Risk and the Performance Manager, the FREP Management Officer will be responsible for co-ordinating and managing relationships with the Fire Resilience and Emergency Planning Committee and GLA Scrutiny Team to ensure that the Brigade meets its governance duties.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the Brigade’s governance framework including the political environment that the Brigade operates within and excellent writing skills and experience of drafting complex reports.

Assessment Overview

As part of the online application form, candidates must provide evidence to address the following criteria:

Selection Criteria 1 - Proven understanding of Brigade’s governance framework including the political environment that the Brigade operates within, and how external and internal drivers influence what the Brigade does and how it is perceived.

Selection Criteria 2 - Experience of working with senior officers and politicians within an organisation, to provide clear concise briefings on diverse topics, while also delivering briefings to specification and on time.

Selection Criteria 3 - Excellent writing skills and experience of drafting complex reports for challenging audiences.

Selection Criteria 4 - An understanding of the political context within which the London Safety Plan is produced and delivered.

In line with the Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) employment checks will be completed by successful candidates, which will include a basic criminal records check. Successful candidate will be required to declare any convictions for offences which are not spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and any offer of employment is subject to the LFC receiving a criminal records disclosure which it considers satisfactory. Successful candidates should apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to get a copy of their criminal record and share the original disclosure certificate with the LFC. The check will only show convictions that are not ‘spent’. It will cost the successful candidates £25 (current charge) and usually takes up to 14 days.
