It aims to provide young people with a sense of purpose and belonging, great life experiences, self confidence, effective presentation and communication skills, teamwork opportunities, progression paths, and nationally recognised qualifications.

Recent funding from the Mayor of London is enabling a large increase in the number of Fire Cadets units to open one in every London Borough by April 2020. To do this, we need adult volunteers – lots of them!

Most importantly they will need to demonstrate a commitment to ensuring consideration of diversity and inclusion runs through everything they do.

This is very much a coordinating role however there may be some evening and weekend working. Although you will work a 35-hour week and primarily be based at London Fire Brigade Headquarters, there will be a requirement for you to organise and attend volunteer related events across London, deliver training on planned weekends, and visit Fire Cadets units one evening a week to meet with and develop volunteers. The ability to work flexibly and travel is essential.

With experience of working within the public, community or voluntary sector in a similar role, you will also possess high levels of written and oral communication skills. FCVCs will be required to build professional relationships with internal staff and external partners, generate funding, deliver training, organise and participate in events, work as a team, and help to develop and raise awareness of the LFB Fire Cadets brand.
