Post: Enforcement Support Officer Team Leader (Fire Safety)

Starting salary: £36,829
Salary range for the FRS E grade: £36,829 - £43,992
An opportunity has arisen to join the Fire Safety (Regulation) Central Regulatory Enforcement Group based at Union Street as the Enforcement Support Team Leader.
In this role, reporting to the Head of Fire Safety Enforcement, the successful candidate will lead a specialist team responsible for developing and supporting the Brigade’s enforcement activity across London. That includes the ongoing development of the Brigade’s cadre of specialist criminal offence investigators and, where necessary, managing investigations undertaken by CREG members.
Amongst your skills you will be expected to provide effective support to senior managers and to all fire safety colleagues. You will have demonstrable experience of managing and developing both local and peripatetic staff to achieve agreed outcomes. You will also have considerable knowledge of fire safety law and the criminal justice system requirements for investigation and prosecution of offences and be able to disseminate this to assist and develop others.
You will be able to demonstrate effectiveness at establishing and maintaining professional relationships with internal stakeholders and display confidence in discussing and presenting shared aims with external stakeholders.
Although the position is based at Union Street you will be expected to attend Area based offices and other locations as necessary to progress the Group’s work and develop and manage colleagues.

Assessment Overview
Please address the following criteria in your application form:
Selection Criteria 1 - Experience of working within a fire safety function and the practical application of risk based fire safety principles.
Selection Criteria 2 - Experience of staff management, and the motivation, training and development of teams and of individual staff, or demonstrate the ability to carry out this role.
Selection Criteria 3 - Good analytical skills in order to work effectively with complex technical/legal documents; to undertake research and provide concise findings to inform policy decisions.
Selection Criteria 4 - Detailed knowledge of regulatory fire safety legislation, procedures and policies including application of PACE and criminal procedure rules.
