The London Fire Brigade are recruiting for a skilled manager to take charge of the logistics division of our Operations Support Group (OSG). You will be responsible for the day to day management and development of the human and physical resources of the logistics division of OSG. With the ability to support and develop a small team of managers and their multi-skilled teams in maintaining, storing, and distributing essential equipment and supplies across the brigade. Providing resources and support to the technical division when needed.

Experience of managing warehouse and distribution operations, with knowledge of fork lift, HGV and relevant site health and safety requirements would be advantageous. Along with the ability to create process improvements and efficiency in working practises to drive budget savings where possible.

You will play a central role in maintaining the London Fire Brigade’s operational capability and ensuring the OSG is ready 24/7 to provide resources and support to the London Fire Brigade’s operational response. You will be required to deputise for the Head of OSG when necessary.

Successful candidates should have:
• A record of developing innovative and creative solutions.
• A record of compassionate, inclusive and empowering management.
• A record of anticipating future challenges, and ability to form strategy to address.
• Experience of budget and performance management to improve service delivery.
• Experience of managing large teams across multiple sites.
• Experience of promoting a strong health and safety and staff welfare culture.
• Experience of route planning, dispersal of payloads, large scale stock maintenance and FMCG or similar high turnover distribution operations would be advantageous.

Assessment for this role is due to place mid-November 2020. Please be advised that if you are unable to make the scheduled assessment date, we may not be able to make alternative arrangements.

Please note: Should you be shortlisted and because of the current Covid-19 situation you will need to be able to conduct an interview over a video conferencing service such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams. You will be asked to provide relevant contact details for that to take place if shortlisted.

Additional Information

In line with the Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) employment checks will be completed by successful candidates, which will include a basic criminal records check. Successful candidate will be required to declare any convictions for offences which are not spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and any offer of employment is subject to the LFC receiving a criminal records disclosure which it considers satisfactory. Successful candidates should apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to get a copy of their criminal record and share the original disclosure certificate with the LFC. The check will only show convictions that are not ‘spent’. It will cost the successful candidates £23 (current charge) and usually takes up to 14 days.
