The Role
This is an internal vacancy and is only open to those that work for the LFB and are eligible to apply.
Applications are now invited for the Crew Manager Development Programme for operational staff.
Please make sure you read all the information in this advert carefully and please do not click on apply without having your expression of interest form completed by your Watch Manager and Station Manager.
When you have received your expression of interest form back from your line management, please complete the online application form by 15 May 2019 16:00 GMT including the expression of interest form (please follow the application guidance pdf document in the attachments). You must get your Watch Manager and their manager to complete sections 2 and 3 of the expression of interest form before submitting it with your online application form. You must upload your completed expression of interest form (with your Watch Manager and their manager's comments) in the other attachments section of the online application form. Please make sure you give yourself plenty of time to complete and submit your application form prior to the closing date, as late or un-submitted applications will not be accepted, you also need to factor in time for your line management chain to complete.
Eligibility
This vacancy is open to internal applicants only.
To be eligible to apply you should be a LFB firefighter deemed competent in role map units 1 to 8.

Assessment Overview
Stage 1
Application Form including your completed expression of interest form with your Watch Manager and Station Manager's comments – Please find the attachment along with instruction on how to complete which must be submitted with the online form.
Knowledge Test – A pass mark of 70% or above is required to progress to the next stage (we advise you to begin studying for the test).
Stage 2
Practical Drill – Please find additional information attached.
If you pass the drill you will proceed to the interview and Ops exercise (on the same day as the drill).
Interview – This will be based around the non operational aspects of the role.
Operational Exercise – This will be an interactive Q & A exercise.
A minimum score of 50% is required in each area for you to be considered for promotion.
Please state all unavailable dates in your application form as once a date has been selected, we will not be able to change it.
As you can appreciate, the scheduling of the assessment process involves a great deal of resources and therefore management will be notified of any non-attendance to either stage one or two of the assessment and development centre. Please be advised that if you are unable to make your scheduled assessment dates, we may not be able to make alternative arrangements.

Important Information
Your promotion to Crew Manager (Development) is conditional upon passing the Crew Manager London Incident Management (LIM) course. If you are not successful in the LIM course you will immediately return to the role and salary of Firefighter.
You are expected to attend the LIM course at the earliest opportunity. You may be offered up to a maximum two dates to attend a LIM course. Failure to attend the dates offered (other than in exceptional circumstances) will result in you being returned to the role and salary of Firefighter. Please note that you may be posted to a different station to the one you worked at either as a T/Crew Manager or firefighter.
