The Role
Applications are now invited for the Crew Manager Development Programme for operational staff.
Crew Manager development programme is a process that will identify those with the potential to move into a crew manager role.
The closing date is the 05 October 2018 – Please aim to submit your application before the closing date as late applications will not be accepted.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply you should be a firefighter deemed competent in role map units 1 to 8
You must get your Watch Manager and Station Manager to complete section 2 and 3 of the expression of interest form before submitting it with your online application form. You must upload your expression of interest form in the other attachments section of the online application form. If you need further advice on this please contact recruitment.
Assessment Overview
Selection process
Stage 1
Application Form – Please find the attachment along with instruction on how to complete which must be submitted with the online form
Knowledge Test – A pass mark of 70% or above is required to progress to the Practical Drill
Practical Drill – Please find additional information attached
Stage 2
Interview – This will be based around the non operational aspects of the role
Role Play – This will be based on a scenario that you could find yourself in as a CM whilst dealing with a member of the public
Written – This will be linked to the role play
Operational Exercise – This will be an interactive Q & A exercise
A minimum score of 50% is required in each area for you to be considered for promotion.
As you can appreciate, the scheduling of the assessment process involves a great deal of resources and therefore management will be notified of any non-attendance to either stage one or two of the assessment and development centre. Please be advised that if you are unable to make your scheduled assessment dates, we may not be able to make alternative arrangements. Please state all unavailable dates in your application form as once a date has been selected, we will not be able to change it.

Important Information
Your promotion to Crew Manager (Development) is conditional upon passing the Crew Manager London Incident Management (LIM) course. If you are not successful in the LIM course you will immediately return to the role and salary of Firefighter.
You are expected to attend the LIM course at the earliest opportunity. You may be offered up to a maximum two dates to attend a LIM course. Failure to attend the dates offered (other than in exceptional circumstances) will result in you being returned to the role and salary of Firefighter. Please note that you may be posted to a different station to the one you worked at either as a T/Crew Manager or firefighter.
