Salary range £25,034.85 - £32,624.47 plus 20% shift allowance

The London Fire Brigade Control and Mobilising Team are currently seeking to recruit current Fire control operators to the role of LFB Control Room Officer.

This post is open to Fire Control Room Operators within a UK County Fire and Rescue Service. Are you fully competent in the rank of Fire Control Room Operator?

Can you remain calm under pressure providing life saving advice to callers?

Can you help manage our response to a terrorist incident or significant fire in the Capital?

Can you work effectively with colleagues, Operational Officers, our partner agencies and Firefighters to achieve the best response for Londoners?

Can you demonstrate accountability, togetherness and compassion to support London Fire Brigade’s Behaviours?

Do you have experience of working on the Capita ‘Vision’ Mobilising System?

You should be available to commence a nine-week new entrant course starting late 2020 at our training suite within the London Operations Centre based in SW19.

Applicants will be invited to attend an online interview with a Control Room Operations Manager w/c 21st September. References including previous absences will be taken into account prior to being offered a place on this course. Any offer will be subject to a successful medical and security checks. The post holder will primarily be based at our London Operations Centre in Merton, South West London. There will be an occasional need to travel to our secondary Control in Stratford.

Please note: Should you be shortlisted and because of the current Covid-19 situation you will need to be able to conduct an interview over a video conferencing service such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams. You will be asked to provide relevant contact details for that to take place if shortlisted.

Assessment for this role is due to place week commencing 21st September 2020. Please be advised that if you are unable to make the scheduled assessment date, we will not be able to make alternative arrangements.

Additional Information

In line with the Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) employment checks will be completed by successful candidates, which will include a basic criminal records check. Successful candidate will be required to declare any convictions for offences which are not spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and any offer of employment is subject to the LFC receiving a criminal records disclosure which it considers satisfactory. Successful candidates should apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to get a copy of their criminal record and share the original disclosure certificate with the LFC. The check will only show convictions that are not ‘spent’. It will cost the successful candidates £23 (current charge) and usually takes up to 14 days.
