As part of London Fire Brigade’s community health strategy, we are establishing an integrated relationship with health and social care partners, as well as the voluntary sector, to support safer and healthier communities across London, particularly to those most vulnerable.

About the role

The Brigade provides around 86,000 Home Fire Safety Visits each year across London to those most at risk from fire. The role is an exciting opportunity which will support expansion of this role to deliver Fire, Safe and Well Visits. You will be responsible for arranging and visiting residents in their home to provide advice and/or equipment to reduce fire risk, as well as providing early intervention and prevention activities on health and wellbeing priorities. The role will also involve liaising with brigade officers and partners at a local level, contributing positively to the ongoing development and delivery of this service.

Fire, Safe and Well Visits are currently being delivered in five boroughs across London. These are Ealing, Greenwich, Islington, Merton and Waltham Forest. We are looking for committed professionals to join the team on a secondment basis until the end of September 2019, however there may be an option to extend this arrangement. The team is based at Brigade Headquarters, there are currently vacancies in the London boroughs of Waltham Forest, Greenwich and Merton.

You will be part a community safety team supporting the delivery of the Brigade’s Community Health Strategy – Healthier Futures and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will be committed to outcome focused, person centred working and experienced in enabling support that meets needs of the communities that we support. Experience of working with vulnerable groups and fostering positive working relations with external agencies is desirable. You will have good organisational and time management skills as well as flexibility and the ability to use your initiative.
