London Fire Brigade (LFB) is London’s Fire and Rescue Service – one of the largest firefighting and rescue organisations in the world. We are here to make London a safer city.
We employ over 5,500 people, across our operational team (our firefighters), control (our call handlers who answer your 999 calls) and our non-operational team (our teams who work behind the scenes to support our front-line services, including HR, IT, Finance, Procurement, Communications etc.).
An opportunity has arisen in the Commissioner’s Office for a driver to join the team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-moving dynamic team.
You will be responsible for driving the Commissioner and occasionally other Directors or VIPs to meetings and events across London on a daily basis.
You will be expected to work in a busy environment as a member of a team. You will be expected to assist the Commissioner or other Directors / VIPs in ensuring they are prepared for their meeting upon arrival.
As an Emergency Response Driver (ERD), you would be required to undertake routine inspections and basic maintenance of vehicles. You will be expected to maintain your ERD Skill and attend training as required.
You are not required to hold the Emergency Response Driving skill upon application, this is desirable to apply for the role, however training will be provided for the right candidate.

Eligibility
Applicants must hold a full clean driving licence in order to undertake regular driving duties.
Assessment Overview
Stage 1

1. Experience working in a challenging and changing environment.
2. Experience of using basic IT packages such as Word, Outlook, Excel and using internal Brigade systems such as Station Diary.
3. Well-developed interpersonal skills in order to develop and maintain effective relationships internally and externally ensuring high levels of customer care.
4. Time management and organisational skills to ensure smooth running of appointments.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend stage 2.

Stage 2
The assessment will consist of:
IT assessment - You will be required to demonstrate your IT skills to ensure a basic knowledge of Word and Outlook. You will be expected to complete a task within a set time.
Driving Assessment – You will be required to demonstrate your driving ability whilst taking instructions.
Interview – You will be interviewed and asked questions based on your experience and suitability for the role.
Assessment for this role is due to take place in late-May 2025. Please be advised that if you are unable to make the scheduled assessment date, we may not be able to make alternative arrangements.
