Commercial Contracts Manager
Status: Permanent
Salary: £36,464 - £43,556 per annum
Grade: FRS E

The London Fire Brigade is recruiting a Commercial Contracts Manager. The work is varied and offers the right candidates the opportunity to join a growing procurement contract management team responsible for a wide portfolio of commercial contracts.

The post holder will manage a range of contracts which involves performance monitoring, risk management, liaison with suppliers and end users, as well as being responsible for the commercial aspects of our contractual relationships with suppliers. The post holder will also work closely with our procurement managers in the delivery of major procurement projects.

You will have experience of commercial procurement and contract management and have a keen grasp of how contractual performance is managed and value for money is achieved.

There are opportunities for on the job development as well as opportunities for sponsored study such as Level 5 membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supplies (MCIPS).

Assessment Overview

Please address the following criteria:

2.1 Excellent communication skills both written and oral in order to draft reports, briefs,
instructions, policies and to negotiate with representatives of external organisations; convey
complex information accurately. Present detailed reports to senior managers.

2.3 Excellent interpersonal skills in order to develop and maintain good working relationships with
all levels of brigade personnel, contractors, external suppliers and consultants.

2.4 Good organisational skills in order to manage a range of workloads with conflicting priorities
and to ensure deadlines/targets are achieved.

3.2 An awareness of the importance of having a commercial approach to the purchasing function
within a large public organisation together with an understanding of the principles of ‘best
value’. A commitment to quality and to a progressive partnership approach to the management
of major contracts to support the work of the London Fire Brigade.

Additional Information

In line with the Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), employment checks will be completed for the successful person, which will include a basic criminal records check. The successful person will be required to declare any convictions for offences which are not spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and a Disclosure Scotland Basic Disclosure will be undertaken before an appointment is confirmed.
