The Role
Babcock International are seeking enthusiastic, committed serving firefighters to fill trainer vacancies which are available now. Applications are invited from competent firefighters, and crew & watch managers (both competent or in development).
More information on how to apply and what you need to do can be found in the assessment overview section - please see below.
Babcock will be providing training to seconded staff to develop their skill sets and support them to work towards becoming specialists across a range of competencies. Babcock will provide opportunities for attainment of technical skills together with accredited adult learning and assessor qualifications. Babcock is seeking applicants who are committed to attaining these qualifications and are prepared to provide evidence of their personal development journey.
This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in new developments around training provision to LFB staff and to contribute towards innovative training solutions. The current vacancies are in the following teams:
Firefighter Development
Breathing Apparatus
Incident Command
Transport training
NB: Babcock is seeking both full time secondees and Associate Trainers (Day 6/7) in all of the above competencies, however you cannot apply for both roles.
The plan is to align training delivery to operational activity. To achieve this we will need to ensure that our workforce is flexible, therefore successful applicants are expected to work flexibly (42 hours per week if they are full time). This may include evening and weekend working across different training venues throughout Greater London including Beckton, Park Royal and Plaistow.
Full time secondment applicants should be aware this is a two year secondment, and you will lose your base posting in accepting this position following a successful probation of 28 days.
Associate Trainer (day 6/7) applicants should be aware that if you are successful, employment will be on a part time basis on day 6 & 7 only of the 8 day cycle when required. This will enable the required rest periods in between shifts. The LFB Outside Employment policy (No. 551) will apply to this role.
Further information regarding these opportunities is available in the FAQs (you can find the FAQs in the attachments section below).
If you have any additional questions regarding these opportunities with Babcock, please do not hesitate to contact the duty Babcock Training Manager on 07753 900299.
