London Fire Brigade is looking for an exceptional Assurance Manager to join the Transformation Directorate. This post will play a lead role in the definition, implementation and maintenance of a Business Assurance Framework (BAF). This post will provide effective specialist support to managerial activity at the first line of defence, and delivery of a programme of second line of defence activities that validate outputs from the first line of defence. The post will also have responsibility for the production of a quarterly BAF report to Commissioner’s Board and other stakeholders.
The post holder will be required to provide technical knowledge, expertise, assurance and advice to the Head of Risk and Assurance, Assistant Commissioner – Transformation, Director of Transformation and other stakeholders on the application of a Business Assurance Framework and compliance with legislation and best practice.
They will be expected to manage the performance and development of staff to meet required service levels and quality standards. Identify individual and team development and skills training needs are ensure that these are met.
As well as implement the Brigade’s Togetherness policy in relation to the duties of the post especially with regard to the access and provision of training and the management of diversity.
Ideally, we are looking for someone with a proven track record in this field and are able to communicate both verbally and in writing to a high standard to provide high quality written reports, briefs and presentations relating to the duties of the post as required. You can manage your time effectively and represent the Directorate/Department/Team at both internal and external meetings as necessary and deputise for the Head of Business Management as required.

Assessment Overview

Stage 2 - Seen Presentation – Topic will be emailed to shortlisted candidates. (sift). Successful candidates will be invited to Stage 3. (late-May 2021).
Stage 3 - Interview. (late-May/early-June 2021)

The check will only show convictions that are not ‘spent’. It will cost the successful candidates £23 (current charge) and usually takes up to 14 days.
