A secondment opportunity has arisen to join the Strategy and Risk department in the role of Assistant Project Manager. The temporary position is for an initial period of six months, which may be extended. There is potential for the posting to become permanent. In that case, the secondee may be assimilated, subject to the conditions in paragraph 2.1 of the policy number 252 - Assimilation policy for Employees.
The postholder will support the Head of Performance and Risk and Performance Manager in managing and leading on delivering departmental projects and initiatives that help deliver change and better outcomes to the Brigade as a whole.
You will need to have experience of successfully managing projects to achieve project objectives on time and within budget and developing, implementing and monitoring project plans to ensure the timely completion of project activities.
The ability to manage workloads and to prioritise effectively and to identify and address changing and conflicting priorities whilst meeting deadlines will be required along with well developed written and communication skills in order to draft reports, correspondence, policy and notes of meetings.

Assessment Overview
As part of the online application form, candidates must provide evidence to address the following criteria:

Selection Criteria 4 - Knowledge of Project management tools and methodology.
Assessment for this role is due to place week commencing 13 April 2020. Please be advised that if you are unable to make the scheduled assessment date, we may not be able to make alternative arrangements.
The assessment process will consist of a Presentation, an Interview and a Written Exercise.
Additional Information
In line with the Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) employment checks will be completed by successful candidates, which will include a basic criminal records check. Successful candidate will be required to declare any convictions for offences which are not spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and any offer of employment is subject to the LFC receiving a criminal records disclosure which it considers satisfactory. Successful candidates should apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to get a copy of their criminal record and share the original disclosure certificate with the LFC. The check will only show convictions that are not ‘spent’. It will cost the successful candidates £23 (current charge) and usually takes up to 14 days.
