London Fire Brigade is the busiest fire and rescue service in the country. What's more, we are one of the largest firefighting and rescue organisations in the world protecting people and property from 102 stations across the 1587 square kilometres of Greater London.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) is in the early stages of a multi-year transformation journey. This aims of this transformation are to provide the capabilities, capacity, and resiliency to enable LFB to provide the best possible service to London and Londoners.

As part of this, the Commercial and Procurement department is transforming to introduce a robust end-to-end category management capability to enable the efficient transition to a more digital, data-driven, and results-focused way of working. We are seeking enthusiastic, passionate, and experienced Procurement Professionals to join our team for this exciting journey!

The Assistant Procurement Officer will support one of the Category teams (Professional Services, Assets and Estates or Operations) in managing effective accurate purchase to pay activity including management of electronic catalogue to ensure the value from contracts is maximised and that stakeholder’s needs are met. This includes the support and contribution to the category team strategy with accurate use of procurement data analytics and management information; and ensuring timely escalation of risks and issues to meet the function’s performance targets.

Applicants should have experience of working in a customer facing environment and have an understanding of the importance of managing public expenditure compliantly and transparently. Ideally the candidate will have purchase to pay experience and an understanding of public contracts regulations. They will also have experience of working flexibly in a team and responding effectively to changing priorities to meet deadlines or targets.

We are looking for someone with hands-on experience in managing the needs of a diverse customer base and demonstrating accuracy and attention to detail, with good interpersonal and communication skills. They will have experience of Microsoft 365 applications.

This role is part of a team and is expected to manage time effectively and reports to either the Procurement and Contracts Officer (FRS D) or Senior Procurement & Contracts Manager (FRS E).

Stage 1
