An opportunity has arisen to join the North West Area Support Team in Wembley as an Administrative Officer.

In this role the successful candidate will have line management responsibility within a team delivering administrative support to officers and fire stations in the North West Area. The main duty of this role is to supervise the work of a diverse team,encouraging their development whilst supporting the Team Leader, Area Manager and Deputy Assistant Commissioner. You will need excellent interpersonal skills in order to deal with conflicting demands and changing priorities.

Competency in the production of written documents including reports and spreadsheets using the full range of Microsoft Office applications will also be required. A high level of attention to detail is essential as the role includes, amongst other things, statistical analysis and minute taking, including taking notes at disciplinary hearings. Knowledge of invoicing would be useful.

Although the position is based at Wembley you may on occasion be expected to work from different locations within the Area.

Assessment Overview

Stage 1

In line with the Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) employment checks will be completed by successful candidates, which will include a basic criminal records check. Successful candidate will be required to declare any convictions for offences which are not spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and any offer of employment is subject to the LFC receiving a criminal records disclosure which it considers satisfactory. Successful candidates should apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to get a copy of their criminal record and share the original disclosure certificate with the LFC. The check will only show convictions that are not ‘spent’. It will cost the successful candidates £18 (current charge) and usually takes up to 14 days.
