An opportunity has arisen for an Administrative Assistant within the Business Support Team of the General Counsel’s Department based at Union Street.

The successful candidate will be part of a team providing a comprehensive administrative and support service for a busy legal department including organisation and administration of meetings, preparation and distribution of paperwork, processing invoices, placing orders for goods and services, maintaining manual and computerised office systems and acting as first point of contact for the department.

There may also be an occasional requirement to hand-deliver urgent and confidential documents to external agencies within the central London area.

You will need to demonstrate your experience in office administrative duties, including writing correspondence, using office systems, checking work for errors, producing statistics, dealing with customers, with a good standard of IT skills covering a range of applications. You must also have the ability to communicate professionally and work as part of a team in a helpful and co-operative manner. Excellent prioritisation skills are essential.

Assessment Overview

Stage 1

Online application, CV and cover letter (sift). Shortlisted candidates will be invited to stage 2.

Stage 2

Assessment for this role is due to take place early December. Please be advised that if you are unable to make the scheduled assessment date, we may not be able to make alternative arrangements.

Additional Information

In line with the Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) employment checks will be completed by successful candidates, which will include a basic criminal records check. Successful candidate will be required to declare any convictions for offences which are not spent under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and any offer of employment is subject to the LFC receiving a criminal records disclosure which it considers satisfactory. Successful candidates should apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) to get a copy of their criminal record and share the original disclosure certificate with the LFC. The check will only show convictions that are not ‘spent’. It will cost the successful candidates £23 (current charge) and usually takes up to 14 days.
