We are now recruiting for our future intake of firefighters. However, there is more to being a firefighter than you may think.
Anyone who has determination and a good level of fitness can learn to do the physical part of the job. It’s not all about rescuing people from burning buildings and cutting people out of cars. Most of a firefighter’s time is spent talking to people. They visit people’s homes, schools, businesses, and community meetings to encourage Londoners to think about fire safety.
Before applying please make sure you have what it takes to be a firefighter and spend some time reading about becoming a firefighter on this website. Here you will find information about the skills for the job, the recruitment process, firefighter training as well as be able to read profiles from existing LFB firefighters.
To apply you will first need to register on the site. To do this you will need to have an email address that you have regular access to, as we’ll use this to communicate with you as well as email your message inbox on this site.
Due to the technical problems we experienced with our recruitment site overnight we have extended the closing deadline until 8pm tonight (Friday 20 May). We thank you for your patience and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Please note that the site will not accept any applications after 8pm therefore all completed applications must be submitted by that time. After 8pm you will be able to review your part completed or unsubmitted application but will not be able to submit your form.
From 5pm to 8pm this evening there will be limited support for any queries via email (firstname.lastname@example.org), please do not telephone the LFB switchboard number.
